The Girl

      Well hello.

It appears you've stumbled across my little corner of the internet! Welcome and have a seat. No, not the rocking chair, it may break under you. {I'm afraid Mel Gibson still hasn't learned to make a rocking chair properly.} May I pour you some tea? Or coffee? And don't worry, the whiskey's watered down.

My name is Emma Jane, but you can call me Emma. (If you know me real well, you can call me Em, but I'm afraid that privilege is reserved for a select crowd.) I'm a starry-eyed girl with a passion for words, an obsession with the Old West, a violent fondness for popcorn, and an over-active imagination that occasionally lands me in heaps of trouble. I'm a Christian, saved by God's grace alone -- I believe His grace is the only thing strong enough to do the job. Jesus Christ is my Savior and my heartsong and I owe everything to Him. He's the reason I breathe, the reason I get up in the morning, and the reason this broken world is still such a beautiful place.

In addition to being a fairly odd person, I'm a writer, a reader, a history buff (I flatter myself), a musical theatre fanatic, a daydreamer, and a hopeless romantic. I'm an introvert, and a bit of a loner, but if you're a swell person I'll probably like you. I was raised a farm girl, so the country is deeply ingrained in my roots. I love dirt, cornfield, the smell of new hay, and I write about these things. My heart sings every time the sun rises, I have a love/hate relationship with Christian historical fiction, and I firmly believe that Lonesome Dove is the best western ever made.

      Did I mention I'm a little odd? Well, I am....Yes, a little.

So welcome, friend. Here you'll find the breathings of my heart. My expressions, my rambling thoughts, the words that just can't stay locked inside me. Who knows, you may find them interesting! I hope my little bloggie blesses you in some strange, beautiful, unexpected way.

At any rate, I'm glad you're here.

~Emma Jane
