"The trip is booked and I AM COMING."

Every once in awhile something amazing happens.

Something really, really, ridiculously, incredibly, freakishly, almost unbelievably amazing. And something like that happened last night. (Or rather, it's going to happen in a few months...)

Here's how it went. I was just about to get in the shower, when my sister came along and told me something she had just read on the computer. Immediately, I pulled all my clothes back on, raced out to the other end of the house, catapulted myself into the computer chair, and investigated the matter. I read the subject line and my breath caught in my throat. (It really does do that sometimes, you know. It's not just in the books.) I clicked on the email, hardly daring to hope. Then I read the words -- the words I've been longing to hear for years. And that's when it hit me. That's when I knew it was really, truly, honest-to-goodness true. It's happening.

FRIENDS, NAOMI AND I ARE GOING TO MEET AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is, seriously, almost too wonderful to be true -- BUT IT IS. It was made official yesterday, and though we've blown up the chatbox squealing to each other about it, neither one of us has fully registered the reality yet. (At least, I haven't. Have you, Naomi?) We've been dreaming about this for almost three years. It wasn't until about two weeks ago, however, that it actually Became A Thing, and we started considering it seriously: could this actually happen? Can we make it work? How much are we willing to work to make this dream of ours come true?

I'm still amazed that it only took two weeks to put everything together. BECAUSE NOW IT'S ALL SET. The trip is booked, and Naomi is coming to America in June!!!!!!

     *freaks out all over again*

I'm serious, this is about the most exciting thing that's ever happened to me. (So far. The MOST exciting thing will be meeting Naomi at the airport and hugging each other for the first time -- we're both fairly certain we'll be crying, given our reputations of teariness.) I told my mama this morning, "I'm so excited I don't even know how to feel!" I really don't. I don't know whether to jump up and down or run around in circles or sing at the top of my voice or try to calm myself down. So far I've jumped and sang. The calming doesn't seem to work. I'll try the running around once I'm done typing out this frenzied post. ;-)

Emma (2009):

JUST THINK ABOUT IT, PEOPLE. Four years ago, I could have never imagined anything so wonderful. I didn't even have a best friend. I remember reading Amy and Melody's blog posts about their epic long-distance friendship, and being ever so happy for them when they first met in real life back a few years ago....I remember how fiercely I dreamed that would be me someday. Well, now, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I've had a lot of dreams in my day, and they don't always come true -- but THIS ONE WILL. IT IS GOING TO.

     :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Naomi had the idea that we should make the Blogging Community guess who's going to visit who, and when we're going to visit, but I wanted to just let it all out, so we vetoed that idea. ;-P Naomi is coming here -- HERE TO MY HOUSE ER MA GAAASH -- in June, and she's going to stay three weeks (THREE WEEKS JUST THINK OF ALL THE AMAZING MISCHIEF WE CAN COME UP WITH IN THAT TIME).

I have to thank my parents, for going along with and being enthusiastic about this dream of ours, inviting a person they've never met into our house for three whole weeks (she's really not that bad, Mama and Daddy.) I have to thank Naomi's parents, for being so willing to make this happen, and for all the money that is surely going to go into this -- it'll be completely worth it, I PROMISE. :-) And we have to thank the Lord -- because HE'S the one who caused us to run into each other in the first place. He's the one who planted to seed of friendship and made it bloom into a huge, colorful flower. He's the one who makes us dream big, and He's the one who's making it possible.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

     <3:

Of course, we have oodles and oodles of fun things planned that we're going to do together (which will include visiting every library in the county, going to a contra-dance, watching Downton Abbey and picking strawberries), and we'll probably only come up with more. ;-) But we thought it would be cool if you all told us one thing we should do while we're together. (Be creative, but please don't ask us to do something stupid or potentially dangerous. We'll be doing far too many of those things as it is.)

I'm literally so excited right now, I don't know what else to say, so I'll leave you with this, which is basically all that's been running through my mind all morning:

NAOMI IS COMING NAOMI IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Yay! Oh, I'm SO excited for you two -- what complete and utter marvelousness!! It's just splendid... (And as I told Naomi a minute ago, I'm actually right in the middle of ironing out details for meeting one of my own close friends for the First Time Ever too at the the end of May, so I can totally identify with all the squealy nervous expectancy ;)). So much delicious excitement floating about! :)

  4. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I'm SO excited for you both!!! I didn't expect you would be able to meet in person this soon!! This is AWESOME!! And for THREE WHOLE WEEKS, too!! Ahhh! I can only imagine how excited you must be. :D

What should you do together? Dear me, who am I to say? Personally, I'd really like it if together you would write a blog post for us, all about what you've been doing--like Amy and Melody have done in the past--because I've always liked those kind of posts. And as for anything else, my only suggestion would be that you have LOADS of fun together!! (Haha! Like that NEEDED to be said. ;))

GAHHHH!! THIS IS SO EXCITING, EMMA!!! :D

  6. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*cue Newsies dancing and cheering all over the place 'cause that's the only thing that really expresses it*

I'm SO happy for you guys, I honestly don't even really know how to say it :-) It's awesome. You're going to have a great time and remember it for the rest of your lives, and I'm just really glad you get to do this.

Okay, so I suggested (randomly) berry-picking to Naomi, and she said you guys already planned to do that . . . So what about having a backyard cookout? You know, with hamburgers? It doesn't get much more American than that, tbh ;-)

I also really think you should show her "October Sky," if you have any time. Because "October Sky" is epicness, and also because Homer is really cute. *cough cough* Plus it's an American movie. So there ya go.

Seriously though . . . those beautiful shots of the Virginia mountains . . . I almost couldn't handle it. GUYS, I LOVE VIRGINIA. I love it. It's not my home state, but it's right next to my home state, and in my very 'umble opinion it's got some of the most gorgeous scenery in the whole country.

    1. Believe me, we will be singing LOTS of Newsies songs together. ;-P

Thank you so much!!!! I honestly don't even know how to say it either. I'm still pinching myself to make sure this is real. ;-) Oh, we'll definitely be going berry picking! That's one of the things I really wanted to do. Hmmm, a backyard cookout sounds fun! We'll see if we can manage to do it without blowing something up...

Watching October Sky would be amazing too. I'm so glad you liked it so much, by the way. And YES, I totally agree -- Virginia is one of the most beautiful places there is. I've been there twice, and it was the only other place I've been to outside of my home state that really felt like home. I'd love to go back. :-)

P.S. I already suggested to Naomi that you have fun dressing up together and taking pictures. But I wanted to say I LOVE Miss March's idea too, of you guys writing a blog post together. Because that would be so AWESOME :D

I would love it if you two were able to do a vlog together....of course, I'd understand if that wasn't feasible due to privacy and all that, but maybe you could toss that idea around or do something similar. :)

  13. OHHHHH EMMA!!!!! EEEEEKKKKK!!!!!

    *catches breath* *squeals some more*

This is amazing. It's the pure epitome of amazing.

I don't know what else to say!!!! *calms down and tries to think sensibly*

This is the best thing that I could ever wish for, for you two. It was not even a month ago you were saying how you REALLY wanted to see your blogging friends in real life (perhaps you already were aware of this coming about) and now it's happening. The big dream you dared to dream, is coming true. And God was the one Who made you dream big, and made it possible, as you said. :) He's so good to us all.

The fact that you have three whole weeks is also sssooo thrilling! Even though it's short enough, it really is quite a long amount of time. I'm so happy for you! Words can't express. Xx

This just made me SO so HAPPY! I can't WAIT to hear more about it, and I expect to hear a ridiculously great deal of those three miraculous weeks you'll have together. EEEKKKK!!! I can't wait for June either! ;D

As for the one thing you two should do... you should both sit on your kitchen counter and eat popcorn. ;P No, I have it! You should drive Naomi around in your big ute, along a country road, with the windows down, the wind whipping your hair, and sing along at the top of your lungs to music. That's something you should do. :D

I can basically talk about this all day. For now, I'll just end with,
I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE!!!!

It's seriously the best thing I could wish for too. And it all happened so FAST -- no, I didn't even know a month ago that it was possible! We started discussing it about three weeks ago, and then the other day -- IT WAS DONE. Settled. SHE'S COMING!!!!! God is SO good. And so unexpected sometimes. ;-)

Thank you so much!!! I can't wait for June either....and for all the things we'll do...and then to tell y'all about it! Haha, yes, we should both sit on the counter and eat popcorn. Oh yes! And we'll drive around in the truck like you said. Thanks for the suggestion. :-)

Anyway. So happy that you two will get to have that feeling of seeing the REAL PERSON you've been talking to all this time, actually there in front of you. Being able to look her in the eyes and hug her and squeeze her arm. I dare you not to say "YOU'RE A REAL PERSON!" ;)
