Memory Nest

Hello friends! The lovely Erudessa over at The Flowering Vales has come up with a fun post idea, and kindly asked me to be in on it! Thanks, dear!

It goes like this (I'm pasting Erudessa's explanation from her blog because she does it better than I could):

Instead of having to answer questions or tell random facts about yourself {like a normal tag} you make up random nonsense that starts with:
'When I grow up and have my own house'  And then list a random fact.  It can be true example: 'When I grow up and have my own house, I am going to learn to play the Violin', or serious, 'When I grow up and have my own house, I want and Old English Garden with a sun dial' or complete nonsense like, 'When I grow up and have my own house, I am going to make a different chocolate dessert everyday.'
Instead of an 'awards tag' it's a Memory Nest.  We are helping each other build a nest made out of Memories.  And instead of 'tagging' a certain number of people that have to answer questions, you 'peck' ONE other person.  One thing, is that this can last as long as our imaginations hold out because we can come up with the most ridiculous things and never say the same thing (I know that you eventually run out of random facts about yourself when answering tags) but as long as we have imaginations this can go on and on!!

    The rules:

  • thank the person that 'pecked' you
  • list five things that start with "when I grow up and have my own house..." (they can be true, or utterly ridiculous, whatever you feel like writing :-))
  • 'peck' one other person and let them know you have done so.
     Alright then! Here we go....

#1 When I grow up and have my own house...I am going to have lots of bunnies and let them sit on my desk and drink out of my teacup while I write my stories.

#2 When I grow up and have my own house....I'll have a brown fence around my yard and grow clematis vines along it.

#3 When I grow up and have my own house....I will listen to my Broadway soundtracks as loud as I want all day long. (Oh wait...I do that now. Oh well.) ;-P

#4 When I grow up and have my own house....I will watch the sunrise over the hill every morning.

#5 When I grow up and have my own house, I am going to make quilts for every one of the beds. (This is a scary thought, since I hardly know how to sew at all, but hey! I can learn!)

     And I peck....Miss March.

That's all for now, folks! :-)

  1. This is delightful. :-) I can see you doing all of these. Except the quilt-thing. But you could surprise me. (I'm sure Sadie will end up making them all because yeah, you'll be busy writing or singing.)

And you tagged Miss March. She has no Meg. Meg is the other one. :-) Juuuust so ya know.

    1. Naomi -- hey, I could surprise you! ;-P I want to make at least ONE quilt in my lifetime.

Oh, whoops! Thanks for telling me. I've fixed it. ;-)

    1. Oh, don't worry about it! At least you read it. :-) Thanks for telling me -- I might have wondered what that was all about!

    2. Yeah I did read it!! You are welcome!

  3. Aww! This is such a cozy sort of post. #1. This makes me think of Miss Potter for some reason. By the way, do you drink tea? #2. Sounds beautiful! I love fences! #3. Haha! #4. That's a lovely thought...I'd do that, too, if I could get myself out of bed. Are you an early riser? #5. Quilts for all the beds! I love that idea! Quilts are so cool! Especially patchwork quilts with all the different colors!

Just a thought. I noticed you 'pecked' me as Miss Meg March. Is it too confusing having a Miss Meg March and a plain Miss March around the blogging world? Because I've been thinking, maybe I should change my name to Miss Beth March or something, just so people don't get us confused--because I feel bad that I half stole Miss Meg's name. What do you think?

Thanks for 'pecking' me. This looks like a very fun tag!

    1. Well, yes, #1 was partly inspired by Beatrix Potter. I've always loved the idea of having a bunny on my desk. I do drink tea sometimes, but not very often. I prefer apple cider. ;-P

I love fences too! :-D I TRY to be an early riser....but I'm not always. Working on that. And YES, aren't quilts wonderful? I've never made one, but I want to try my hand at it sometime.

You're welcome! And oh, I'm sorry about the mistake with your name! I wasn't thinking about it, I guess, and I just typed out Miss Meg by accident. Generally I don't find it too confusing to have a Miss Meg March and a Miss March (except when I make it so, haha), but it would certainly be less if you were Miss Beth. Whatever you want to do. :-)

    2. I must say I agree with you on that one. Apple cider is much better than tea...at least the kind of tea I've had.

I've never made a quilt either, but I've thought about it. Maybe someday.

Oh, no problem. I don't mind. I just don't want to make Miss Meg feel bad because I came along and confused things. :/ I still can't decide which March sister I should be. Beth seems like the obvious choice because she's the one I used to be when I played with my sisters...but I don't know. I don't quite feel like a Beth. Then again, if it's not too confusing maybe I will just continue with Miss March. (I have to admit, I'm rather attached to it. I think maybe I don't do too well with change.) Ah, well. I guess I'll just have to think about it some more. Thank you so much for your thoughts on the matter. :)

    3. Hey girls! Just popping in to add my two cents (hey, you WERE talking about me, so I figured I had a right! ;D). I don't feel bad about you half 'taking' my name accidentally, Miss March, and unless everyone else is confused by us both together (we seem to have similar taste, which doesn't help much, haha) I don't see why you should change it to something you are not entirely happy with. Besides, I can call myself "Miss Meg" more frequently than I have been - the only reason I put March on the end is so people know it's a pseudonym, and I'm masquerading as Meg March. :-) And if everyone knows me well enough I won't have to bother adding March to the end (which is just a small habit, too) then I can call myself Miss Meg and you can call yourself Miss March and everything will be jolly. ;-) But anyway, I don't mind if you want to change it either - just don't feel pressured to, that's all! :-)

    4. Aww! Thank you girls! That makes me feel so much better! It's not that it would be so terrible to change my name, it's just that I know I'll make the process of coming up with a new name much longer than it has to be...because I'm so picky...and I'm just feeling a bit too lazy for that right now. Heehee. ;)

Miss Meg, you're such a dear! I'm so glad you don't feel bad about me taking half of your name, because I REALLY didn't mean to! :/ Oh, if you really want to go more by Miss Meg that would be fine (people are starting to call you that anyway), but only if you want to! It really doesn't bother me if people mix us up sometimes...I only worried about it on your account! :) I think Miss Meg and Miss March would be no end jolly, though, if that's what you want to do! (Oh, and about us having similar interests...haha! I noticed that, too! In fact, I read one of your comments one time and thought, "Wow! That sounds like what I would have said!" I guess March minds think alike!)

  4. What a lovely idea - and your answers were so cool to read :) CLEMATIS VINES!!! I LOVE THEM TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ahem.

    Moving on.

Right, so . . . Oh! That one that says "watch the sun rise over the hill every morning." That's one of the things I want to do! How AWESOME, you know? Well, of course you do, since you just wrote it :P But still :)

    1. Rosie, clematis vines are my favorites. We have them growing on a fence down at our produce stand, and I often find myself writing them into my stories. :-)

I know! Wouldn't it be lovely to watch every day arriving? I'd also love to see every sunset. (Of course, you can't always see it, with clouds and such, but still.) I plan to live on a hill overlooking a wide valley. :-)

    2. We don't have any clematis vines but there are several in our neighborhood and I think they are beautiful :)

That sounds awesome!! Oh, and by the way, I really like your new profile picture :D

    3. Thanks! I like it too. :-) Have you seen Walk the Line?

    4. No, I haven't - I just like the color of her dress. Plus the girl is really beautiful and fits you well. THAT SMILE!!

  5. Wonderful! I need to get my answers up to this, too…

Picturing bunnies drinking out of your teacup has made me happy:D And clematis vines are so beautiful!

By the way, your new profile picture makes me SO happy. I don't even know why, since I've never seen Walk the Line, but…it's just so GOOD:)

    1. I'm going to bring all my bunnies home to our basement this winter, so I'll be able to have my dear Ashton on my desk while I write. He's very inspirational. :-)

Ohhhh, watch Walk The Line!! IT'S SO GOOD. Parts of it are really hard to watch -- it's one of those movies that puts you through a LOT of emotions -- but it's worth it. And the actors do a great job singing.

  6. I've been meaning to comment on this for awhile, and finally got a chance! :-D (Yesterday we went to a friend's 21st birthday party, and I also saw "The Martian" with my elder siblings - it was very good! The main attraction was Matt Damon, of course. ;-) Although, there was a bit of language, but other than that it was quite clean. Certainly kept you guessing and waiting intensely. And certainly kept me giggling a lot too. ;-D) This is such an interesting idea - I would never have thought of it. :-)
I immediately thought of Beatrix Potter too (it t'would appear I wasn't the only one) when you mentioned bunnies and teacups on your desk. :-D I'd love a bunny, they're so cute! Guinea pigs are what we have, and I suppose they're pretty cute too. ;-)
I'd want a white picket fence around *my* house. ;-) We currently have a super old log fence at our front yard - it's half crumbling, and made up of logs, with a bougainvillea (flower) twined around the front where our gate is, so it has a rather quaint appearance. :-)
Haha, the first thing that comes to mind when you said #3 - FREEEDOOOM! ;-
    D
    (#4)....Aww, that sounds pretty....
You know what? Almost every single bed in our house (and I'm sure there IS enough for every single one - they're stored away in cupboards too) has a quilt on it, handmade by our grandma. :-) Quilts are very pretty.

P.S. I received your letter this week. You should have my reply within your possession before the month is out. ;-D

    1. Cool! I've been hearing a lot about The Martian, mostly all good things. (And I do like Matt Damon. ;-P)

Your crumbling log fence sounds lovely! I think white picket fences are adorable, but I'd personally prefer something more rustic, wild, and untamed. That's just my style. :-)

Really? That's so neat. I think quilts are so special.

(And you got my letter!!! I can't wait to get yours! :-))

I'd love it if you'd drop me a line or two! I always enjoy receiving comments from readers and friends. I ask that you please keep your comments clean and God-honoring, and please don't write anything you wouldn't want your grandmother to read. Also, if you are commenting under anonymous, please do leave your name (or some sort of moniker so that you aren't totally nameless). Thank you so much and have a lovely day!
