Listen up, y'all!

Do you remember the Western Week I hosted last year in September? If you do, maybe you recall how awesome it was. :-) Well, I was thinking, how much fun would it be to do a reprise? You know, another week of rootin' tootin' movie reviews, rollickin' old-timey fun and celebration of western goodness?

     Folks, we're doing it again.

Another Legends of Western Cinema Week!!!! *cheers* Only this time, I've asked my good friend Olivia to join me in hosting this event. We're both going to feature western-themed posts on both our blogs during the week, and some joint posts as well (including our favorite Robert Duvall westerns, because if you haven't noticed we're both slightly obsessed). :-)

You can join in too! The requirements for participating in this event are really simple: all you have to do is write something about western movies, western actors, or pretty much just western anything. It can be a movie review, a post about your favorite western actor, a list of your favorite westerns-- anything you want.

What qualifies a movie as a western?

Basically a western is any movie that takes place in the American West in the late 18th century to the early 19th century. They come in all different shapes and sizes, but most are characterized by cowboys, cattle drives, outlaws, lawmen, Indians, cavalry scouts.....you get the picture.

Post your reviews (or whatever you've written) on your own blog during the week, then at the end of the week you can comment back here on this post with a link to your posts and I'll share everyone's contributions then. Sound good?

I'm so excited!!!! I hope you are too! Here are some cool buttons to get the news out:

Olivia and I hope you'll join us! I think this is gonna be a real good time. :-)

  3. Brilliant! This sounds like a great deal of fun! And it gives me a set goal to post a review I've been writing on one of my favorite westerns. Now, I need to look back into the archives and read the stuff from last year's event!

  6. Oh, I really ought to do something for this! I'd just have to choose...Tell me, would something about a Western TV series qualify, or are you sticking to just movies?

    1. Elisabeth, something about a TV series would definitely qualify! We're not picky. :-) I'm really glad you want to participate!

  7. This sounds awesome! I'll definitely be writing a post. :) Probably about The Magnificent Seven, since that's one of the few Westerns I've seen. (And it's AWESOME.)

  13. Hello friend and happy weekend to you...dearie me! How quickly the days roll by...I've just realised it has been at least a month since I visited you last...how terrible! :)
Anyways, thank you for being such a faithful dear and commenting on my posts...as you know, it is always a delight having you pop by for a visit!
Now...I must tell you I'm having a good giggle right now...you know that Lady Beth celebrated her birthday this week, but just guess the theme she chose for her little party...you guessed it! The Wild West! Haha... And we actually got a Western movie out which turned out to be quite laughable...actually, I see you have it in one of the buttons you've featured here:)
But anyway, I will be back to see some of those reviews - such a fun idea, dearest Emma! :)
Off to do some sewing now, so I must bid you farewell...
    Hugs to you my friend!

    1. Eowyn, the first button is from The Long Riders, and the second is from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I love the former, and the latter is kind of fun, though not a favorite.

List of Ten Favorite Western Soundtracks is here.

Review of the soundtrack of Tombstone is here.
